Louise and James - Elsick House

Updated: Apr 8, 2020

What can I say - just WOW - Louise and James wedding at the gorgeous Elsick House in Aberdeenshire, was amazing, start to finish!

As soon as I walked through the door and into bridal preparations, I knew we'd be in for a great day. Louise, her bridesmaids and mum were all in good spirits and were enjoying the morning, of course there was also some prosecco involved. It didn't take long until Rudy - the families Labrador and of course 'Best Dog' - made an appearance and demanded a cuddle. Those of you who know me, know that I have a massive soft spot for Labradors, so complying with his wishes was my pleasure.

The marquee at Elsick House was set up beautifully for the ceremony, with loads of flowers and sparkles all provided by venue dressers Higher Calling. The ceremony itself was lovely and as per usual I got a little bit emotional myself as well.

After giving Louise and James a moment to enjoy their first drink together as a married couple and mingle with their guests for a little while, my second photographer David started to gather family and friends for the family group photographs Louise and James asked for. They were done and dusted in no time and we could move on to having some fun with the bridal party.

Then it was time for the bridal portraits, we took Louise and James for a little wander around the grounds, to all of our favourite spots for photographs and there are so many to choose from at Elsick House. The gardens are stunning with big trees, the lovely overgrown arch and beautiful flowers.

Louise and James didn't stop smiling, it was easy to see the love and admiration between them. I'm sure you will all agree with me, Louise was a beautiful bride in her gorgeous dress from Elmar Bridal. Of course I also have to mention her handsome groom James, who scrubbed up nicely, his outfit was from Gibbs Mensware in Inverurie.

After the bridal portraits, it was time for the speeches, involving many laughs, some tears and a bottle of Japanese Whisky. Followed by the wedding breakfast, which was provided by Hudson's Catering - amazing food, as always! Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks, with perhaps a little too much drink for some ;-) But let me tell you - this family knows how to party.

The band Waterfront from Glasgow had everyone off their seats and on the dance floor, including videographer Brian Scott and myself. Louise had one last big surprise up her sleeve, she had arranged fireworks without James knowing. Just before 10pm everyone was asked to go outside for one last big group photo, but instead bang on 10pm NJE Fireworks Displays pushed the button for an amazing 5 minute fireworks display. After the fireworks and enjoying a bit of very tasty wedding cake, it was time for me head home and leave the happy couple to enjoy the rest of their night.
